- As part of the Consumer Awareness Project within the scope of CIP 101 course, “Electronic Waste Workshop” was organized by Caner G. Yalın from Pulsec Cycle Co. on November 11-12, 2024 at Sabancı University campus. Within the scope of the workshop, the concepts of waste hierarchy, recycling, upcycling and downcycling were discussed. Afterwards, a new visual was created by upcycling the materials.
At the Offtown Festival, which took place at Sabancı University on May 17-18, 2024, upcycling workshops were held with the Own Your Garbage Foundation and Devridaim Institute. Bags were made from old t-shirts with the Adopt Your Garbage Foundation. The workshop was followed by a talk on “How do we take care of our garbage?” Devridaim Institute also organized a workshop on making earrings from waste paper. The workshops aimed to reduce waste and keep any material in use for as long as possible.
The Swap Fest, which aims to introduce unused items to their new users and bring each item one step closer to its maximum use potential, was held on April 27, 2022, at the Sabancı University campus.
