- A seminar on Effective Altruism was held on November 13, 2024 with the participation of CIP supervisors and overvisors. Berke Çelik, the founder of Boğaziçi University Effective Altruism Community, talked about the work in the field of Effective Altruism in Turkey and around the world. Within the scope of the training, prioritizing the problems in the world, impact-oriented volunteering, how to integrate social impact into career life and how to approach volunteering communities were discussed. With the interactive activities, it was aimed to inform the participants about the Effective Altruism methodology. At the end of the training, a brainstorming session was held about the work that can be done in the field of Effective Altruism and a road map was determined.
The Participatory and Safe Youth Activism Workshop prepared by Roots & Shoots Turkey and BİLGİ Child Studies Unit was implemented by our supervisor Alperen Davran for our supervisor and overvisor students on November 7, 2024 at Sabancı University campus. In the first stage of the workshop, case studies were conducted in groups using “Case Cards for Well-Being”. In this process, the needs of the case actors were assessed and the groups discussed solutions. In the second phase, a session was organized under the theme of “Activism and Rights”. In this session, a video on children's rights was watched, the obstacles faced by children in the process of seeking their rights were emphasized and children's rights were discussed in a comprehensive manner.
CIPs Academy event was held on October 5, 2024 at Karaköy Minerva Han with the participation of our supervisor and overvisor students. Within the scope of the event, Nazan Bekiroğlu and Aylin Dinç from the WWF-Turkey Volunteer Program team conducted a Civil Society and Volunteering Workshop. In the interactive workshop, the etymology of volunteerism and organization were discussed.
Ayşe Özel and Elif Öztek held a workshop on Self-Awareness and Team Communication with supervisor and overvisor students at Karaköy Minerva Han on February 24, 2024. During the workshop, ways to increase self-awareness were discussed and practical examples were made on team building, team management and team communication.
Digital Communication Specialist Özgür Kurtuluş gave an online seminar on "Artificial Intelligence and Civil Society" to supervisor and overvisor students on October 17, 2023. In the seminar, the basic concepts of artificial intelligence and its relationship with civil society, the areas of use of artificial intelligence in civil society, how productive artificial intelligence tools can be used in civil society projects, and artificial intelligence and algorithm bias were explained.
On October 7, 2023, Eda Bozköylü conducted a workshop on Brain-Compatible Learning with supervisor and overvisor students at SabancıDx. In the interactive workshop, the subject of learning was transformed from just information to a physical experience for the participant.
Critical Thinking Workshop in Digital was held at Sabancı University on April 26, 2023 at the Cinema Hall. In the event planned by the Civic Involvement Projects Office, critical digital literacy steps that can be taken against the problem of misinformation, and tips for thinking like a confirmation in social media platforms and messaging applications, which have become a part of our lives, were explained. The workshop, in which both students and employees participated in an interactive way, was conducted together by Esra Özgür, Education Contents Officer, H. Kardelen Işık, Education Officer from Teyit, and İlkem Kayıcan from Sabancı University.
Age-Friendly Workshop, which is an education program suitable for all ages with an innovative and rights-based perspective without discriminating according to age, socio-economic structure, and gender, was held with Şişli Municipality on March 24, 2023 at Karaköy Minerva Han. Within the scope of the program, Instructor İlkem Kayıcan Dipcin from Sabancı University gave Critical Digital Literacy Training.
Together with Sabancı University Foundation Development Program, trainings and activities were held with Ayvalık Anatolian High School students at Ayvalık Küçükköy Sabancı University Creative Technologies Atelier on 23-26 January 2023. Sabancı University lecturers İlkem Kayıcan, Süphan Bakkal, Nihal Öztolan Erol, Duygu Karaoğlan Altop, and Duygu Karaoğlan Altop gave trainings on “Fact Verification”, “Global Warming”, “Gene Regulation”, and “Algorithm”, respectively, while Emre Erol discussed the social aspects and social impacts of the topics at the end of each topic. Civic Involvement Projects also organized interactive activities on each topic with four volunteer students from Sabancı University.
In 2022 and 2023, the Sustainable Development Goals were introduced to students in the CIP 101 course by Nil Memişoğlu, United Nations Volunteers Turkey Coordinator and Aydan Özkil, from the United Nations Volunteers team. In addition, in 2022, Nil Memişoğlu, United Nations Volunteers Turkey Coordinator, and Manuel Brakaj, Ferhat Sağlam, Fatma Aksoy from the United Nations Volunteers team provided information about the Sustainable Development Goals to the MBA Program students of Sabancı Business School.
V. National Conference on Awareness was held on June 10, 2022 at Sabancı University Altunizade Digital Campus with the theme of Social Responsibility in Higher Education. The conference was organized in three separate sessions titled “Social Responsibility as a Course”, “Fieldwork Through the Eyes of Stakeholders”, “Capturing the Present and the Future: NFT and Blockchain in Social Responsibility”. Representatives from universities, private sector and non-governmental organizations that carry out social responsibility activities in Türkiye came together and shared good examples, experiences and knowledge with universities that want to work in the field of social responsibility and volunteering.
Online Workshops on Awareness with CIP modules were held at PayaSTEM Artificial Intelligence Center and Sabancı University Küçükköy Creative Technologies Atelier in 2021. In these workshops, children were taught about human rights, animal rights, environment, gender, self-confidence and coding.
Koç University Social Impact Forum (KUSIF) gave a seminar on Social Impact Strategy within the Framework of Sustainable Development Instruments to supervisor and overvisor students at SabancıDx on February 23, 2020.
The Conscious Parenting Project, which includes informative activities for working mothers and fathers and individuals who want to have children, started in 2015 with Doğan Cüceloğlu's speech titled My Family, My Child and My Expectations. Until 2023, it continued with topics such as Safe Mother-Child Bonding, Psychological Resilience, Foster Family and Awareness, Basic Psychological Needs of Children, Positive Parenting, Basic Emotional Needs in Adolescence, Healthy Nutrition from Generation to Generation, Philosophy Workshops for Adults, Difficult Topics in Parenting, Nutrition in Exam Period, Being a Parent in the Digital Age, Raising Children Who Can Realize Their Potential, Adolescence in the Pandemic Period.
- III. National Conference on Awareness was held in 2018 at Kadıköy Municipality Kozyatağı Cultural Center in cooperation with Kadıköy Municipality. In the conference held with the theme of Conscious Parenting, Mother Child Education Foundation (AÇEV) Family Trainings Coordinator Ahmet Çetin talked about “The Role and Importance of the Father in Supportive Parenting”, Sexologist and Sexuality Trainer Rayka Kumru talked about “Positive Parenting” and Psychiatrist Author Yankı Yazgan talked about “Life with Children”.
