WWF-Türkiye Freshwater Project
WWF-Türkiye Fresh Water Project was implemented in the Fall 2024 semester as part of the Civic Involvement Projects course. At the beginning of the project, WWF-Turkey Volunteer Program experts provided information about the project process and a Civil Society and Volunteering Workshop was held within the scope of the project. Together with WWF-Turkey Volunteer Program Officer Aylin Dinç, preliminary research on nearby water resources and wetlands was conducted and relevant data was collected. WWF-Türkiye Freshwater Program Specialist Gökçen Karaduman emphasized the importance of wetlands before the field trip with online seminars and shared observation techniques with the students. A field visit was made to Riva River accompanied by experts to assess factors such as the habitat, ecosystem, biodiversity, industry, urbanization and agricultural activities of the wetland. At the end of the project, the students prepared a report including the observations they made as a result of the online trainings and the field trip.
